Does anyone know of any cheap car insurance places ?? Ive had quotes from Direct Line, Tescos and Egg. My problem is I have 6 points on my licence and a modified car, this not only puts up my insurance but I cant take advantage of any on line discounts because for some reason you cant put modifications on when you do it on line.

I found Tescos the cheapest for me with my current and previous cars ( Audi and Calibra) and that was after ringing lots of different companies . ( I had points too)
OH has just insured his new car with them as they were the cheapest for his model too.

I have found Egg the cheapest so far but only if I put my excess right up. Tescos price went up because I lost the 10% discount because I couldnt do it on line :(

Hi Blondebird, I went in the post office the other day and the man behind the counter asked if I was interested in car insurance, did not check it out as I don't need to renew at the moment. He said it is very competative. :-)

Have you tried any of the "women only" companies ?
Although have to say they were usually more expensive when I asked for a quote.

the problem with "women only" companies is that they go for the stereotypical woman, and due to my 6 points and modified car im far from stereotypical :D :D :D :D
I tried Zurich they were £200 cheaper than the other quotes i had gotten http://www.zurich.co.uk/home/foryou/Insurance/carinsurance.htm

esure are meant to be quite cheap, but I'm not personally with them. Might give them a try when the renewals up/
I drive a sportscar (as well as an Astra Estate - which is the dog's car really). I've found Hastings Direct to be cheapest by far for the last few years.

Give Sainsburys insurance a try. We've got our cars and house with them. We saved a fortune (and they give loads of points !) and a friend has just changed to them - saved £124 on her previous insurance.

peoples choice came up cheapest for me :)

I would try sainbury's. Just renewed mine and for some reason wouldn't let me do it online so he gave me the discount anyway when i phoned and explained and they were the cheepest for me. As for esure i drive a class 15 insurance car and i'm 26 and said i was too young to even bother quoting even though i have full no claims so i won't even bother with them next time.
You could try www.confused.com they search 94% of car insurance companies.

Kwikfit found me my cheapest quote, they also give you a card entitling you to a discount on their tyres and services, although the last two little jobs they did for me, a repair to my exhaust bracket and a puncture, they refused to accept any payment for :)
Tesco wanted £100 more than my renewal insurance, plus I am an advanced driver, i will stick to the same insurer.
