I have a 8mth SBT should I feed him Mini-Bites or the adult food? Also how much?

Call Burns, their nutritionalist person is great and will give you all the help you need :)

My pup was raised on adult because the Mini Bites kibble was too small and he kept choaking himself, he did fine on the adult from about 4 months.

There is the large breed puppy which is larger kibble :)

Jackie H - what type of pup have you got? We've got a GSD and she is on the Burns Mini at the moment but isn't overly impressed. We mix in some of our other one's adult Burns and she seems to prefer it! I think it's because it's bigger and she can get a good crunch out of it. I didn't want to put her straight on adult due to the lower protein content but .....
Also - does anyone have any experience of the large breed puppy stuff? I spoke to Burns and they suggested not putting her on that for a few months time and hopefully not at all.....
Cheers
Jayne

Ive just put my Setter on the large breed stuff as recommended by burns because he was so scrawny, he has a 50/50 mix of the large breed and the mini bites. He seems ok on it but it has only been a couple of days :)

my gsp pup was weaned on to the large breed mini bites and shes fine on them, she wolfs them down tho and then is stil hungry, so i upped the amount but when i went 2 the vets 2day, i mentioned that i didnt think the amount on the bag was enough 4 her and i could fit my hand round her stomach, they sed follow the bag because they know better then i do on how much 2 feed her.

I have Elkhounds, they are in the most part greedy and my latest pup was eating so quickly he was breathing with his head in his bowl and choking himself. I contacted Burns twice and they said I should not use the Puppy food for larger breeds so I just put him onto adult. But have to say I then had trouble with dust in the food and took him off burns altogether at about 7 months.
I have BCs. The youngest is 6 1/2 months and has just been changed over to adult burns. He now has to actually chew the food whereas the mini bites he was just swallowing and doing what the other poster said about choking himself by breathing in at the same time. Going onto adult has had no bad effect and in fact has probably chilled him out a little which is no bad thing.

Have to say I am glad that someone else had the puppy choking problem, when I spoke to Burns about it their attitude was they had not heard of it so it did not happen. I was not too happy with that attitude and in the end the pups and adults were put back on Arden Grange and I have had no problem since. Burns is an excellent food but unless it is presented in a form that is satisfactory to feed to dogs that are food keen, then I am unable to use it.
Yes Jackie I know what you mean. With my previous BC it never happened but then he isnt food orientated. This one really is and eats every meal as if it is his last. Being on the larger kibble has certainly helped it now. I have to admit I do mix Burns with Autarky which they seem to prefer anyway to just plain Burns.
