Topic Dog Boards / Health / WESTIE NOT WANTING TO WALK
- By WENDYD [gb] Date 07.06.04 20:31 UTC
Hi
One of my Westie's Ellie has started  walking very stiff on her back leg. The vet says it is Arthritis (? sp) He gave her some tablets that seem to work for a while, then she was back to walking stiff again. I bought a bottle of Cortaflex which doesn't seem to have done any good, or maybe it takes longer than the 1 bottle? Is there anything else anyone know's of that I can try. She used to love her walks, and is eager to go, then when we set off she's wanting to come home. She is 8yrs old by the way. Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi Wendy, Metacalm is quite good initially for the pain, but I had noticed that after 3 or 4 months on this is did not have the same effect. I now have Penny (lab) on Glucosamine and Condroitin bought from any healthfood shops. Dosage is for a 12stone adult and manufacturers say adjust weight to dosage accordingly. 12st dog = full dose. 6st dog = half dose. 3st dog = quarter dose and so on. Hope this helps.
