I have an 11 month old Westie and for the past 2 days or so he has become very lethergic. He is usually very energetic and playful but he has started to not want to go for walks, he just lays down after 50 yards or so. He used to get really excited about going for walks but he's just very sleepy most of the time. He does have his playful momnets when he seems to be full of energy but mostly he's not interested in anything. I'm not sure if it's just the weather at the moment, with it being hot and humid, as last night he went for a walk at about 9pm with not problems what so ever.

Any ideas or help would be very much appreciated.

It might be the heat that he's not use to. Does he have plenty of water? You could try cooling him off with a cool wash cloth sponge type bath in the afternoons. I guess if it continues any longer, I'd call the vet and ask about it.

Hope he is feeling better soon.

Spice has been like this, with the heat of the last few days,me too :D we both sit in front of the fan in the living room after short walks to cool off, then she goes into the garden snuggles down into her dugout under my tree fern  and sleeps for ages.
She is eating o.k and her water bowl is topped up reguarly. Also we have bought an extra fan for the rear of the car, which plugs into a socket in the boot area and runs off the car battery in addition to the ac. and we take a small spray bottle of water on walks with us as she loves being 'misted' with it.In fact if I get the hose out to do my plants that I have just put in,she is right there! jumping in and out of the spray! so a pile of doggy towels are at every door!

If you have any doubts though as to his health whatsoever I think it is wise to check it out with a pop-in visit to your local vet.

Have you taken his temperature etc to see if he is unwell?

Get him a quick check over at the vets is you are unsure.
