My dog had to have two lumps removed that turned out to be ok but the only thing is that the wound on the back of her shoulder/neck just wasn't healing and the stitches had been in for 12 days as the vet said to leave it til this monday.Over the last week-end the wound was getting worse but the problem was coming from the area where the stitches were coming out of her skin..I removed the stitches myself on sunday and the wound seems to be healing much better..I think she was allergic to the stitches or her body was trying to expel them....Has anyone else ever had this problem?..

I had this problem with all 3 of my boston's when they were fixed, they had an alergic reaction to the stitches. My vet even used different ones on one dog and another on the other because of the first dogs reaction. it didn't seem to make a difference. I just cleaned them everyday, and they healed fine. We were going into the vets every 3 days before that and I just decided from watching her I could do it myself, and brought them in once a week. After that they healed nicely.

Glad to hear that hers healed nice after :)
