I am considering buying a KC reg SBT bitch puppy, already have a 8 month old SBT dog, wanting another one as a companion not to breed.  I would like a bitch about 8 weeks old, just curious as to know whether my dog will try and mate with her! Can she only have pups at 6 months old? I have been told various tales.....

Hi if your dog is entire he will indeed try to mate her and she will be capable of becoming pregnant at her first season but this should not be allowed to happen for the health and welfare of a puppy bitch.Gillian

I think the bitch has to be 2 years old before breeding. I just think though, I could be wrong.
It was something I heard.
I asked a simillar question not long ago.
I have a 4 month old staff male. I was asking when the best time was to get another and I mentioned about wanting a bitch.
I am sure its 2 years though.

The best thing for you to do is go on some staff websites and see if there is any info on this.

Hi she could have her first season sooner than 6 months but that isnt very common she could also be older than 6months no one can say for certain. But it wouldn't be good for the bitches welfare to be caught by the dog before she is at least the age the SBT clubs suggest as mature enough for a bitch to have a litter.Gillian

About 6 months is the average age for a bitch to have her first season. An entire (uncastrated) dog will be willing and able to mate her at this time and she will most likely get pregnant. This is an incredibly bad thing to allow.

Yes I defintely would not want that to happen, should I have my dog castrated before I get the bitch or have the bitch done?

ive got candy whos just 6 months and buddy whos just 3 months but we are having him done at 6 months!!if she comes in season earlier than this i will have to send him to my friends!!
