My (nearly) 2 year old lab has been eating a lot of grass recently when we are out on our walks and for the past couple of mornings I've woke to little yellow patches on the kitchen floor where she has obviously been sick. Her toilet has been normal and she is still as lively as ever so I 'm not sure what is wrong. It's only a certain type of grass that she eats, I was always lead to believe animals eat grass to make themselves sick so I am a ittle worried. thanks.

Dogs find spring grass and corn etc extremely delicious hence why they often graze on it.
It is a myth that dogs ONLY eat grass as an emetic. Many enjoy the flavour and unfortunately do not connect the consequences with their actions...........................
Relax, the grass will soon get dryer and more bitter and she won't want it so much; just be careful that she is not ingesting grasses that have been sprayed or that which is close to roads etc.
There is nothing wrong with your dog; let's face it she is a lab and it all goes in....................... :D

Hi Joules :-) I always understood when dogs are feeling a bit off colour they appear to 'eat' grass when what they are actually doing is using the grass to stroke the back of their throat to induce vomiting and I have seen this done and proved the point. Apart from this my dog eats grass mowings, I think grass eating is a normal part of dog behaviour ,they naturaly eat a mix of things and in the wild would eat prey stomach (full of grass) and all. If your dog just vomited a small amount of yellow bile and no other problems she was most probably just having an off day and may have been using the grass to empty her stomach. I would keep an eye on her just in case and go to your vet if at all in doubt :-D
