The Office of Fair Trading have asked the Competition Commission to investigate the disparencies in prescription-only veterinary medicines in the UK.The Commission also wants to discover whether a 'complex monopoly situation exists in this sector' or 'may be expected to operate' against the public interest*.

The CC want the views of pet owners:
We are seeking evidence on how animal medicines are supplied to customers and if their needs are best served by current practices. There are an estimated six million dog owners and seven million cat owners in the UK aside from owners of other pets: we are keen to hear their views. We are also seeking views from farmers and others who look after animals.

For more info see this weeks DogWorld* or full details of the inquiry are available direct from the Competition Commission: Prescription-Only Veterinary Medicines (Monopoly)
