I feed my 11mth Lab 4 or 5 eggs a week. The remainder of his diet is Naturesdiet, veg, a few bonio and a bit of home made liver cake to assist with training.
Am I feeding too many eggs? Any other constructive comments about his diet welcome.

I feed my three Shih Tzus a hardboiled egg for breakfast every day. It helps to keep their motions solid because believe me a Shih Tzu in full show coat with the runs is something that I would not wish on even my worst enemy. The remainder of their diet is minced (raw) tripe and small bite mixer. Eggs work for me but I am sure that there are others who will disagree.

One of the old Lab breeders who used to advise me said they fed eggs every day not only the eggs but the shells as well said it was good for them.

Im really glad you asked this question as it had been bothering me whether everyday egg feeding was too much - mine absolutely adore them :)
i gave mine a cheesy egg omelette yesterday for tea as she has completely gone off dog food! she also had a tin of tuna for dinner!!
(she is (i am hoping) in whelp ~ scan later to confirm)so i could have a miss fussy pants for a couple of weeks yet!!

Eggs are the "perfect food" against which others are measured (for protein anyway). As long as the dog is eating the whole egg there is no problem. I feed them raw with shells.

Many thanks for all your replies. I'm sure Ernie will be delighted that his supply of eggs is going to continue

My Bracco has one of two Quail eggs, shell and all, everyday. He waits by the hutch every morning for his treat.

During the breeding season my husband feeds my papillons the eggs from his racing pigeons that he doesn't need. It's quite funny to see them chasing each other round the garden trying to get the egg of each others bibs when they crack the eggs in there mouths.

When Copper was sick my vet recommended scrambled eggs. He didn't agree :D Must be fine to feed eggs though.

In general milk or for that matter any dairy product bar live yoghurt is not a good food for any animal post weaning and even less so for ill dogs/humans etc.
Not sure why scrambled eggs are always recommended but it would be the last thing I fed my dogs/children/myself if they were ill.
my dad used to always give our dobermann storm a raw egg with his dinner to give him a lovely glossy coat , also i give mollie scrambled egg every so often and she adores it
