My good friend and neighbour has a litter from a bitch that i know to be at least 9 yrs old but she is no older than 10.
He has not yet sent in the litter reg papers but has already taken deposits on some pups as kc reg pups.
Call it stupid or nieve, but he is oblivious to the fact that you cannot register the litter with the dam at the age she is.
Is there a chance that the KC will miss this?
My conscience tells me to say something to him but knowing the type of character he is, i will be accused of interfering/gloating if i do.
Well if hes a good friend and neighbour surely he wouldnt take offence, try pointing it out in way that wouldnt eg you have just read on the Kennel club site and take it from there...

is it possible he has applied for permission?

Well he would have to have a really good reason like the bitch is very important to the breed or has missed on lots of occassions & is very important to the breed etc
The computer will not miss the fact that the bitch is over 8, unless he is going to put them on the activities register & not put the bitch down as KC reg but the paperwork comes back with the fact that the puppies offspring may not be accepted by the KC for registration

Thanks for the replies.
It is a couple of days on and i have decided to say nothing. If the post above is right, and the computer will pick it up then he will find out soon enough anyway.
The bitch had a litter last year and i thought it was borderline then but his papers came back ok.

Potbelly,
There is another issue here.
How do you think the prospective owners are going to feel when he no doubt sends the pups away telling them the KC papers will soon follow. Then they find the pup they paid an astronomical amount of money for, possibly with the hope of showing/breeding, cannot be registered. The pup will, hopefully, be a cherished part of their family. Or what if they then decide they don't want an unregistered pup and get rid of it.
It's also illegal to sell any product, and a pup is just that, giving false information about that product. He could open himself up to legal prosecution.
Personally I would 'phone the KC and make them aware of the age of the bitch and then they can inform him of their rules and he will no longer be able to con the puppies owners out of their money. Or at least when the owners try to sue him he can't deny knowing about the 'age rule'. He probably won't even try to register the pups 'cos he'll know they can't be registered. Thereby saving himself a lot of money on registration fees.
By the way what breed are these pups??? Are they a popular breed??
He sounds as if he couldn't give a crap about his bitchand what's more he is obviously out to swindle unsuspecting/honest people out of their hard earned cash. I think he should be 'grassed up' no matter what kind of bloke he is.
If you give me the details:- Bitches KC name, owners name, DOB of bitch, date of birth of litter and how many pups. Oh and the address of the bloke I have no worries about informing the KC about his actions.

Thanks D4wn,
I have just come off the phone to the KC. I stopped short of naming him to them because they assured me that it would be picked up automatically.
Yes it is a popular breed, lab, unfortunatly breeding from this breed is becoming somewhat of an epidemic.(in our part of the country anyway)
The KC said that he would only be able to sell them as `Pedigree` puppies, not KC reg.
I agree with you, It`s all so wrong.
Thanks for the offer.
Call me an ol cynic but its always possible that an unscrupulous breeder can use another bitch's papers to register a litter. So if they have KC docs for another bitch that is under 8 years, these puppies could still be registstered to the wrong dam and the KC/new owners would never know a thing about it :-(
Will the KC pick it up before the pups go off with their new owners?

The KC will refuse the registrations as the computer is programmed to do so automatically

It depends how soon the registration application is sent off. If it's left until the last minute ("The Applications being dealt with, I'll forward it on", the pups may well have been sold. :(

I haven't been on in a day or too.
I'm glad someone has tried to do something. As you say they will probably be sold and told the 'papers will follow' as I said in my original post.
Hopefully this will not make a difference for the pups and they will remain well loved family members.
I suppose it will learn the new owners an expensive lesson.
Never buy a pup without it's papers. No matter whether you trust the breeder or not.
I bought my pup and was told that the jpapers would follow. It didn't matter to me as I ws neutering him anyway. He was going to be and is a pet. I hope no-one buys one of these pups with the hope of showing/breeding.
Potbelly,
Will you let us know the outcome if you get to find out what happens??
