I am breeding my very valuable Pomeranian for the first time. She is standing but has only achieved slip mating twice. She bled for 4 days which led me to think that she will have a short cycle. On day 8 our very proven and knowledgeable stud mounted - it seemed as if all went well till he turned for the tie, 30 sec and they were loose. Today - day 10 she had to be held so she would not bite him and still the same results. She is very eager and flirty - he is still very interested. Does anyone have any suggestions... please help!

Even though shes standing and flirting, she might not be ready, have you thought about having her premate tested?  My girl recently woudidexactly the same as yours, but when tested she didn't ovulate until around day 15!   Also as she is a maiden bitch, you will probably need help holding them and reassure her.

Good luck!

My understanding is that a slip mating is exactly that, slips in and out.  If you got as far as turning your male I would say that you had a very short tie rather than a slip.

Just out of curosity, what is it that makes your Pomerarian "very valuable" ?

If she only bled for four days it is also possible that she may have a split season, coming back in in a few weeks although I have only ever had this happen, very occasionally, with first and second seasons not with a mature bitch - anyone else experienced this?

Of course it is quite possible that the slip matings have been effective, but with a season such as this,  which certainly deviates a long way from the expected, I would agree with the Premate suggestion, you will then know if she has ovulated and is simply flirting now, is ready now and being difficult or has not yet ovulated at all!
bye
