How long do I need to keep my gsd pup away from other dogs at this time?  I have two books on gsd's but neither tells me this.

Most bitches are in season for about 3 weeks, but could be a few days either side. Just keep an eye on her and wait until the swelling has gone down. If in doubt ask your vet to check her for you. They won't laugh at you. :D Better safe than sorry.

The average length of time for a bitch to be in season is 21 days, roughly twice a year. So she needs to be kept away from other dogs for at least 3 weeks each time.

Many thanks for the advice. My poor baby how will we ever cope. She is used to having 2 walks each day but there is no way I could take her out due to the amount of other dogs in our area.
