is there any anti fungal ear drops on the market that can be bought without prescription, just feel the vet is ripping me off a little in what they charge for otomax.tried several cheaper drops but none seemed to do much with yeast in the ears..thanks cooper

If your dog has Marmite ears then you need to discover what is causing it rather than just treating the symptoms.  Remove sugars from diet (this would include hidden sugars such as in cheese), as many grains as poss and add probiotics to food and a "yeast buster" available from health food shops.

This should reduce the frequency, I would then bathe dogs ears in Colloidal Silver and sprinkle some Thornit down regularly.

the dogs in question have been on a barf (sugar free diet) and it does not seem to work at all, i even cut out root veggies and only fed green leafy stuff to avoid hidden sugars.the vet seems to think it is an external allergy by the way the yeast forms from outside first (if its food allergy it usually works from the inside out (so he tells me).will try the yeast buster stuff (do you have any brand names for this).the dogs do have an intolerance to yeast but none is fed to them.i have used thornit too and while it works with one it does not seem effective with these two dogs.i have no idea what colloidal silver is but will look it up.thanks

My dog had really bad ears for 4 years, cost me hundreds of pounds. never got better. than was told to use 1 tablespoon(25ml) white vinegar ,in 1/2 pint of warm water .slowly pour the solution into ear canal rub dogs ears and let him shake.( you must! make sure that the dog has not reptures he's ear drum before using this treatmeant). you than pour remainder of solution onto feet as the infection can get onto nails, he scratches and infection can flare up again. my dogs ears got better in 2 Day!!!!!. when you see that his ears are better keep up with treatment for at least a week. I now do this for my dog every 2 weeks his ears are lovely now and he has not had a bad ear for 1 year brilliant.

Just a word of caution, vinegar can sting and personally I would never pour liquid into the ear canal.

But nothing worked and he was in a lot of pain, and it helped. not a good idea to use if the dogs has scratched his ears so there are open cuts. How long and how much money do you give your vet to really be of no help.

Just reread my post you don't pour 1/2 pint into ear only a small amount and then use rest for feet. sorry

4 oz. zinc oxide powder
4 oz. boric acid powder
1/2 oz. Iodoform powder

The chemist will provide the above and you can make it up yourself a lot cheaper!
