Any Pc wizards out there?
My PC crashes every few minutes (usually on champ dogs, how dare it).Suddenly as I click on something I get the 'eggtimer' fixed and have to shut the program and then open a new window. have run a virus check and all seems ok. Is there anything else I can try.

I was to late to edit my post but also wanted to ask whyis it that I keep getting a 'mysearchnow' bar at the bottom of my homepage (CD) everytime I load up.
Thanks again in anticipation

You have spyware on your computer. :(
You need to install and run (regularly) some anti-spyware software such as Adaware. :)
Download from here :
http://download.com.com/redir?pid=10214379&merid=69274&mfgid=69274<ype=dl_dlnow&lop=link&edId=3&siteId=4&oId=3000-8022-10214379&ontId=8022&dlrs=1&destUrl=%2F3001-8022-10214379.html
Click "open" when asked.
Run it, & delete everything it finds.
Keep it up to date with the "check for updates" option and run it regularly. :)

Strange it wouldn't download for you, I just tried it & it downloaded ok for me ?
Ok, you can find out about spyware here:
http://www.apennyearned.co.uk/spyware-explained.html& here's a link about the "mysearch" toolbar which is one of the pieces of spyware you appear to have, there is a link to a removal tool provided in the link try that. I suggest you do not try the editing the registry option as you could do major damage if you make a mistake, just stick to the removal tool. :)
http://www.spysweeper.com/mysearch-uninstall.htmlGood Luck ! :)
We had the "mysearchnow" on ours a while back and it was a s*d to get rid of. :( Ad-aware (which is usually very good) didn't touch it. I think it was Spybot that finally sorted it out.

We have spybot and it is one of the best I've come across
http://www.spybot.info/index.php?page=home
It even warns you if something is trying to download to the PC.

mysearch now, doesn't that automatically download with smiley central?

Hi, did you update spybot?
Mysearch is a real pain to remove, but spybot should do the job. Sometimes it will finish removal on a reboot of your PC.
I had Smiley Central on but it's "Mywebsearch" that gets downloaded with that. I got rid of the whole SmileyCentral programme by clicking START...CONTROL PANEL.....select ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMMES..... then selected Mywebsearch(smileycentral) and clicked remove.
If you want to keep the programme you may be able to just disable the tool bar by clicking VIEW (at the top of your browser) select TOOLBARS then if that toolbar is listed just uncheck it. That worked for the "Mywebsearch" one on mine but not for the "Mysearchnow" one, that took Spybot to sort it.
Good luck!

Thanks Kath
I have just looked on the add/remove and it is not listed so I am mystified. Not on toolbar either. It only seems to load up when I go on my champdogs home page.

Search google for hijackthis its a spyware removal tool that you can download to a floppy in minutes. Its one of the best I have seen for removing spyware and registry hijackers. Read about the program first though before using it as it doesnt know whats good and bad and leaves it up to you to decide what to remove.

Hi Sue
You can save it to your pc also or CDR etc. I kept the floppy when I got this PC as they are useful if the PC crashes and you need the start up files from the floppy.
