Last Friday my little fawn girl decided to put her foot through the kennel window. I always thought it was perspex not glass, I feel so guiltly for not checking properly, although I had boarded it up inside as the window was too big I had left a bit to let light in. She was in surgery for over two hours and has severed a blood vessel to the foot which cannot be repaired and my vet says you can't see much of the foot for the stitches. By Sunday Petal was on her third lamp shade and now has two socks over the dressing to stop her getting at it and I am sleeping with her at night. She seems none the worse for her experience but I won't see the damage until Thursday when she has her dressing changed. I kept thinking I must put a grill over that bit of window but never did. Anyone with kennels please check to see what your windows are made of. Petal was very lucky as she just missed a major artery.

A-w-w-w I'm glad she's OK. Whew, that was a close call. Don't feel guilty. You didn't have it in your heart to hurt her. It was an accident...nothing more, nothing less. She'll be fine. It's good of you to warn everyone about that.
Give her a pat and get well hug from me.

I hope she gets better soon, im sure she will be fine and no need to feel guilty im sure she just wants a cuddle from you... i understand feeling guilty though as i shut Leo's back paw in the car door yesterday by accident. There was no damage done but he cried so much and i felt realy bad but instead of running away from me he was clinging to my arms for a cuddle.
The first night we had Leon a panel of his playpen fell on top of him. I cried and cried, felt so guilty. Needless to say he was a little shaken up but otherwise fine. (The rubbish playpen went straight back to the shop of course). Fortunately he doesn't seem to hold it against me bless him! Hope she feels better soon xxx
Thanks you have made me feel a bit better. Petal is so scatty and lively that I feel sorry for her, and she is a good girl when I have to put the lamp shade back on during the day although we are on number four now. She goes for a dressing change today and I am going to ask if she can have a little walk OH stays with her when the others go out and her little face is all sad. I can't see that a slow lead walk will do any harm after the way she charges around in the run and hangs over the fencing.
I seem to be at the vets all the time at the moment, Petal's brother Oliver has to go every week for an injection as he has damaged a ligament in his leg from jumping up the bushes and he has on ulcer on his eye from a scratch, which although it is clearing up has to be checked as well. My vet who is wonderful has offered to put a camp bed in the reception area for me.
