Hello all :)

Im just looking for some advice re grass seeds, i think my liberty has got one in her left ear, she's got her head tilted, and keeps shaking her head. Ive looked in her ear with a torch but cant see anything, i dont really want to start poking her ear about!

My friend reccommended putting cooking oil in the dogs ear, as it brings up the seed???
anyone heard of this method, or got any others?

thanks
Sophie

It happened to my dog last year and he went to the vet the next day who removed it under anaesthetic.  It can set up infection if not removed.

Grass seeds have a nasty habit of working their way into things and can do a lot of damage and cause infection. If you can't see anything in the ear and the dog continues to shake its head go to the vet, I would not put oil in because you will make it more difficult for the vet to see anything.Try not to let her scratch it in the meantime or you could end up with a haematoma.
