This evening was Loki's turn for individual tuition/training attention from me, and I was working on her sit/stays/heel work (very difficult to perfect when you are walking 2 or 3 on leads :D) . We had done some work in the field - managed to get her sitting in a field full of rabbit holes (they just disappeared as we came over the fence) , and her "downs" were improving, so we continued on her walk, down the sand lane and on the headland between the old beech wood and fields. It was a lovely evening, and I was looking into the wood, enjoying the sight and smell of the bluebells when I was aware of movement in the undergrowth. I put Loki into another sit - and then I saw a fox - sitting looking at us! Behind it, I think I saw two or three young cubs slipping away - but the big one must have been the vixen - and she sat, looking at us looking at her, whilst her young went to ground!
Loki was so good - she just sat there until I told her good girl - she got and extra large piece of cheese for that - and I threw another piece in towards the fox as she too was so good!
I'm intending to go back that way with Loki tomorrow morning - complete with camera and see if I can't catch it on film - probably wont see them when I'm carrying a camera though!
As we came back I realised that the swallows and swifts are also back - brilliant - summer is a-coming in - although I can't say that I've heard the cookoo yet!
I think Loki knows how good she was - shes been extra good this evening - hasn't been banished to the utility room at all, even when I was cooking & we had dinner - she is just by my knees the whole time!
These individual evenings in do seem to be working - all the dogs enjoy having us to themselves for an evening, then next morning, happily hop off down to the kennel again for the day!!

Loki was good - but I do think it would have been a different story with the labs - Purdey will still get up a head of steam when she sees the bunnies! :D :D :D
Took the camera this morning - no sign of the foxes, but I have got some of the geese which "rest up" here for a week or so before flying your way, Lorelei!
Actually broke with tradition last night, and let Loki come up stairs to bed - OH was not impressed when she decided to tell him that the alarm had gone off at 5.35 this morning :D
