God i hate my job!!!!!  why is it that your boss who is very rarely here, waits until he is out again to call you up and then roll off a huge list of things he should have told you when he was here, aaaaand why is it when you do something you think is the only course of action, (and is) your boss responds with the "oh right well ok then" god i could just scream sometimes ;-(

deedee,  Im totally with you I need more of a challenge.  Ive been doing the same old job for 13 years its starting to get very very boring.
- By deedee [fr] Date 05.05.04 12:54 UTC
Wow that is a long time, i have only been here for 1&1/2 years but how i hate sitting at a desk all day every day, the fact i am in the middle of an industrial estate with no one to chat too is worse, i too need a challange !
- By inca [gb] Date 05.05.04 13:00 UTC
have a boss just the same ...you try and do the right cos they are absent most of the time and it's still never right !!! perhaps that part of boss training school ???
- By deedee [fr] Date 05.05.04 13:07 UTC
I am sure if we went to boss training school we too would be trained to be dis-organised, vauge (spelling again) and generaly a pain in the preverbial :-D.  It must be part of the process you can not graduate without the above skills!!!!!!

Life is too short to spend time doing something you hate; why not change your job and your life for the better?
- By deedee [fr] Date 05.05.04 13:17 UTC
Too true
I am trying, i am working in my spare time for a PR/Marketing company to get some experience, and also for a friend who owns a pup, designing him a website and bar work (which is very amusing but i could not do it all the time!!!)  PR is difficult to get into if you do not have the degree, (i am working on that).  :-D :-D

gosh it all sounds pretty grim
I am glad I am self employrd & have been for over 16 years....doing things I enjoy! cannot imagine having to go to work to do a job I hate. :(

Well I love my job (working with doggies :-D) & even better I have the best boss in the world. Seriously he is fair, consistent, approachable - always there if we need to talk, supportive & I could go on & on. There have been a lot of changes over the last few years where I work & we have had a lot of uncertainties but luckily now things have settled down & I wouldn't leave for anything :)

Hi,
I know how you all feel, I don't hate my job but most days I really don't enjoy it, its just sooo boring, within half an hour of been there my brain stops working and I just walk round in a daze, thinking of other things I could be doing. For a long time now I have wanted to study midwifery so Im thinking that come September it might just have to be back to school for me :)  I'm scared that if I stay in my job for much longer my brain will just give up alltogether :)  I want to come home @ the end of the day and really feel like I've done something n made a difference.
Good luck to u all in getting new jobs that you really enjoy

hi boxerluv, i too would really love to study midwifery, my ideal choice of a career although chosen this late in life!  I've not a lot of confidence in myself but please go for it don't let the chance pass like I have.

Hi Craigles,
Thank You for what you said, im really thinking about it, got all the app forms to fill in to do an access course so I can go on to study midwifery, my hubby is changing jobs too so we will have to move first, hopefully before September.
I'm sure you could still study it, lots of people go back to studying later in life. if I can do it then you can too. :)

I'm 42 now and just feel I'm too old to learn, I went to nightschool a couple of years ago to learn a little spanish and I did find it hard, as I believe you forget how to study, I did pass my course but didn't proceed to the next level as I did struggle.  Good luck to you and I truly hope you get what you want.
- By Lorelei [gb] Date 09.05.04 17:50 UTC
42 is not too old to learn, Im quite offended craigles as Im 42 and went to study housing at 40. OOh you touched a nerve there as Im struggling to learn to drive!  :D Actually it was juggling the household and the essays that I found hard although the course was challenging, and I suspect that many mature students find its the interruptions that hold you up and stop the stuff sinking in. The nation needs midwives and maturity/experience is definitely an asset as no course can teach compassion or caring, so why not?
- By craigles [gb] Date 09.05.04 18:10 UTC
sorry lorelei didn't mean to offend, honest!  I just sometimes feel that i'm 42 going on 92 and other days 42 going on 22 if you know what I mean, 4 kids all living at home one with a baby two dogs, a guinea pig and a goldfish, now taking on full time work again, the 92yr old days overtake the 22 yr old days, although today I'm having a real slob day, having a beauty day ready for my new job tomorrow!

Us women can do anything we set our minds to do!  Good luck to everyone in whatever it is they are doing.  Be positive +.  We CAN do it!!
- By Lorelei [gb] Date 09.05.04 20:21 UTC
Offended, me, never ! :D Id never work again if I took offence that easily :D Know what you mean about the 90s days but I used to have em when I was in my 30s and dogless. Now I have Morse Im in my second childhood much to the kids' disgust. Hope you enjoyed your beauty day, I was being beasted round the mall by Stinkfoot ( aged 91/2) desperate for alone with Mum time and serenely unaware that I loathe shopping for anything. :)
- By BoxerLuv [gb] Date 10.05.04 22:01 UTC
Really???
I love shopping   :)

Success is the fusion of motivation and will, nothing is impossible if you have the right motivation and you want it enough.

Everyone can make excuses for why they did not pursue their goals, but the bottom line is if not now when?

Definitely agree with you tohme, the only thing stopping people do what ever they want is themselves. My husband (now 52) retrained as a Barrister after 22 years in the army then having to go to University. I am retraining and working as a teacher, now in my final year of teacher training. Its the best thing we have both ever done - too much time is spent working so enjoy it. I would tell anyone to GRAB EVERY OPPORTUNITY by the horns and never let go!
