Hi,
Does anybody know how I can remove urine stains and odours from the back of a rug? My dog has decided to use my rug as a toilet for the past few days and now I am left with a stinky rug! It is making my whole house smell disgusting.
Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Charlene

Hi Charlene,
Your local pet store will have several odour eliminator products. Nature's Miracle is the one I see most often.
When you use them you have to make sure to really wet the rug - whatever product you use it needs to get through to the underlay.
On "How Clean is Your House" a carpet cleaner recommended pulling up the rug and replacing the underlay itself, if the problem is really bad. (In this case cats had wee'd all over someone's lounge carpet for years.)

Thanks for the replies.
I tried using Oxy Clean on the backing last night as I don't have any other cleaners in the house. When I am able to get to the store I can buy some others. It seems to have helped a little but there is still a slight odour there. Maybe next time, I will soak it thoroughly as you said Stacey.
Thanks again,
Kind regards,
Charlene

bicarb of soda is good for taking smells out of carpets .... very good if kids have been sick as well :) just sprinkle it down and brush up about 30 mins later

Thanks Inca,
That's one thing I do have in my cupboards at the moment. I will have to give that a try!
