Hi all. My friend has started to take her goldie puppy to obedience classes and has asked me if i wanted to take my Bailey, do you think it's a bit late to start taking him because he is already 1 year old? Will he still be ok to go or is he a little old?
Thank you Rebecca x

No, he's not too old at all. I had a 12 year old dog as a kid who we had never done anything with and I got interested and trained him his basic obedience at that age. He learned just great. He had settled down (obviously by 12) and was an apt pupil. That saying, "you can't teach an old dog new tricks" is a bunch of bunk.
The classes are fun and a great way to further socialization and you'll get some good tips if it's a good trainer.
Go for it and have fun!

Hi Rebecca,
We have lots of dogs over a year old that start at our dog club - some of them are rescue dogs as well, like my first dog - she was 2 when I started with her, and she went on to do really good obedience, as well as agility and flyball.

Hi Rebecca
He is never too old - and if you really work at it you will be surprised how it strengthens the bond between the two of you :)
