Hi there
I think my vet is also around £120, i am surprised the rescue centre did not advise you of any problems when you took the dog?? :-)

This could be wobblers. I would take him to the vet asap. Its about £100 for a hip x-ray - slightly more if you want them to be sent for scoring to the BVA.

Depends on their weight, and if you have elbows done as well. Scoring will not usually be included in the vets fee.

Can the dog be scored if its a rescue? Normally the pedigree papers wouldn't be included....?

Have you taken him on from an official breed rescue? I am amazed that any breed rescue would allow a dog to be rehomed in this condition? You need to talk to the people you have acquired him from and get the dog to a vet as soon as possible. In theory, they should have had him vet checked before even thinking about rehoming him if there was any hint of a problem. This is the only way you will find out what is wrong with him. .
