My 2 year old male golden retriever has black markings round his eyes, he looks as if he's wearing glasses!  He is very pale cream over the rest of his body.  Is there any reason for this?  I assume it is fault but as I'm not showing him it doesn't matter, I just wondered if it was caused by diet or any underlying health problem.  It gradually developed after he was about 12 months old.

Not if it is black skin. This is good pigmentation and is or should be standard in the breed. It is poor pigmentation which is a fault.
