A little advise please Dougal a ten month old Havanese, is booked in at the vets to be castrated on Friday.  Vet advised as he only has one testicle. Will I be hindering his development having him done at this early age. . Also will it have any effect on my other castrated dog, a cav who since we have purchased Dougal is cocking his leg on everthing and everyone. (Never did it before Dudes came) Any advise welcomed.

Hi,
Your vet is right, as a retained testicle runs the risk of becoming cancerous.  I don't think that getting him neutered now won't have much impact on his development, because he will be at the of his development anyway, and neutering doesn't really hinder growing.  Good luck with the operation.

You can have the retained one removed and the other left where it is if you wish, or you could leave it for a year or two.

If you put "retained testicle" into search in the top right of this page, you'll find a lot that has been written before about these boys!!
