My puppy is 12 weeks old and he doen't seem to be getting the hang of toilet training I've had 3 bitches before but I don't remember having this problem although you only remember the good things. He just seems too lazy to go out, hes a very happy puppy and goes on the paper but after I've cleared up with strong smelling disinfectant he still goes on the floor even when the doors open and there is no paper.I come down to 2 poos and endless wees in the morning even if like today I was up at 5.45.
Please reassure me that it will get better I think he was cleaner when he was 10 weeks old!

I had the same problem with my male pup, although it was only wee's. Our vet told us not to expect an improvement until he reached at least 14 weeks as that was the age they usually started to control themselves. However although my pup did get better, he was still very lazy and occasionally would just go wherever he was, even though he had just been walked and the door was lying open for him to go out. He is now nearly 6 months and although a lot better, we still have the occasional accident. He is also a very impatient pup and can't seem to take the time to stand and wee, so he walks while doing this sometimes. When we kept a male pup we were informed from a variety of people that males take longer, which he has proved this point, as we had no probs with our bitch.

Hiya
yeah completely normal!..everyone here kept telling me that it would just click all of a sudden..and it did..at 8 months!! we did make a mistake though we taught her to go on paper and it was ok to wee/poo on paper in the kitcehn..so we then had to unteach her, so it probably took longer than it should have. If I had my time again I would teach her to wee outside..it is a bit of a pain..but a lot easier in the long run..I save so much time every morning not having to mop the kitchen floor!!! we just made a HUGE fuss of her when she wee'd in the place we wanted her to and gave her a treat, lots of luck, dont get frustrated tho..devise a plan and stick to it!! lots and lots of luck!
