Hi
Just wondered if anyone has had an experience of a bitch not tieing onto a dog during mating.  I took my bitch to the stud and each time they mated they only achieved a slip mating - this happened 4 times over 3 days.  The stud is an experienced dog and has tied with the other bitches he has had to him, so it must be my female.

She was mated on her previous season and never took, that time a tied mating was achieved but it was too late - so we know she can tie!  The timing was spot on - as far as the bloodtest told us - any ideas what is happening????

I know a Cavalier stud dog who was used 5 or 6 times, never achieved a tie, but never failed to porduce a litter.  And one of our Am. cocker boys had a series of bitches at the start of this year with whom he did not tie.  He has tied before, and 2 of these bitches had been previously mated and tied.  wouldnt you just know it, it was our own bitch from this lot who did not take - the others all produces lovely litters:)
bye

Hi,
My bitch is 7 weeks pregnant, due to two slip-matings.
Like you I was a bit worried that she wouldn't of taken, but if it's the right day, then that should be enough.
Good luck

Michelle.
