Does anyone know of a minature dog which is not quite show standard, as we want one for our family as a pet and also our daughters would like to do more activities with the YKC with a dog they are able to handle in all disciplines should the desire it. we have tryed looking for rescue poodles but they are usually 10-15 years old, our children arnt that old!any info will be appreciated. yours Mrs Sl Bawden

Some breeders do 'run on' good prospects to about 6 to 8 months and then find that the dog is not good enough or does not like the show ring and then they sell them on, trouble is they usually have a list of people waiting for pups and they will be offered the older pup instead of waiting for a litter to be planned. Would not a puppy do? You may find the breed rescue may be able to help have you contacted them, you will have to say that your daughter wishes to compete with the pup because the papers are not always handed over with the dog. You will find a list of clubs at the bottom of this page and the rescue contacts can be found on this page

There are a couple of younger rehomes on www.pedigreedogs.co.uk (rehome a dog page)
