Topic Dog Boards / Visitors Questions / scans how accurate?

hello, we have got a rottweiler girl who was put to stud for her first time 4 wks ago, we did all the relevant veterinary health checks and we were given the all go, she is nearly 3 she will be 3 in august, the sire we used had all the relevant paperwork and he was also a proven stud, after taking her to the vets yesterday we were advised to go ahead with a scan, but very sadly it was negative, we are really confused as we mated her on her 12, 14th day, as our vet suggested , what would your advice be, the vet who scanned her said she might not have been ovulating on those days, could the scan be wrong? thank you very much.

A scan is only as good as the person doing it. ;)

Sounds like your bitch has missed. :(

The only thing I would say is, if she was scanned too early, they may not have been detected, but if she was done 4 weeks post mating or later, then I don't think you'll be having babies this time.  :(
