Hi , dont know if this is in right section but how long before the dogs go into kennels would you have to get them vaccinated for kennel cough?

We have been invited to a wedding at St Ives and would love to go, we dont have holidays as a rule because of the dogs . But on this occasion we are going to have to check out some boarding kennels, the wedding is on the 31st August do i have time to get them vaccinated?

I think I'm right in saying it takes 3 weeks to become effective. The best person to ask is your vet!

Depends which vaccine is used. It is advised that Intrac should be given at least 2 weeks prior to entering kennels, but Nobivac KC is supposed to give almost immediate immunisation & should only need giving 48 hours prior to entry to kennels. :)

As JG said, check out the options with your vet, he (or she) is the best person to advise you. x

Just called the vet and they use Intrac, and she said 10 -14 days before entry.

Thanks for the replies

Check with the kennels too because some kennels have different policies.
