I am writing on behalf of a friend, A couple of her dogs have Mange and she was recomended a homoepathic remedy called Arsenicum alb & Sulpher 30c now she has this but does not know how many droplets daily and for how long to use it, Would this be something that could be used all the time to prevent this problem, And would this be safe enough to use on a pregnant bitch, Your comments would be very much appreciated.

Has the dog been properly diagnosed as to which type of mange it has? The causes and treatments are different.

As you say always supposing it is mange, we would need to know which. Please let us have full details.
Hi Guest,
Sulphur and Arsen Alb are 2 separate remedies that can both be used for a variety of skin conditions. Homeopathy depends more on the symptoms and characteristics of the individual patient and disease rather than the actual cause so they will help whatever type of mange it is. Having said that, they only work indirectly by strengthening the skin and making it more resistant to attack not by killing the mites so it's possible your friend may have to use conventional treatment as well, for which she will obviously need a diagnosis.
Homeopathy is very safe for use during pregnancy and for newborn pups too. :) I've not treated mange before but one of my books says to give Sulphur 3 times daily to initiate the process of strengthening the skin. The actual number of drops in one dose doesn't matter in homeopathy it's the same no matter what size the animal. Usually you carry on until there is an improvement leaving a longer and longer gap between doses until their are no more symptoms then you stop altogether and just give again if the problem reoccurs.
