Hi just wanted to tell you what a wonderful walk my son Toby and i just had, 1hr 30 mins ( thats not to much for Toby now is it ? he is a year old usually walk him for about 45/60 mins) on the way to the woods we saw horses, sheep the lambs were feeding from there mother, then in the woods we saw squirrels running up trees we met a nice man with three labs one choc, one golden and one black like Toby they had a lovely play together, then we met a 2 year old german shepherd they had a roll about together and then Toby had a swim in the pond and shook himself all over us .
got home and had to bath Toby, wash his lead and collar clean, clean our muddy shoes, have a shower, one without the mud this time :D but it was worth it and Toby is having a lovely nap now :) have you all had nice walkies today?
Heidi
My mum told me about squirrels. She said they look a bit like the rabbits near us, only they have longer tails - and they climb trees. A rabbit that climbs trees

I must admit I don't believe her. Surely those nice Buzzards that live in the trees where I walk would have a field day ;) ? Mr Buzzard was singing a lovely song today to Mrs Buzzard. She was ignoring him a bit though.
My auntie Kali found a lovely smelly, rotten thing ('Mum' called it a rotten fish :D ). it was just beside the stream - I did so enjoy rolling in it. 'Mum' didn't. I didn't like the shower I had when I got home. Neither did auntie Kali.
Love, Chance.

I've been up the woods too. I rolled on a decomposing rat. Boy that was fun. Got a bit overheated so lay in some cool water. Joe shouted that it was puddle of mud but it was soooo nice. Got followed by some cows and that was pretty scary. Jumped up and down in front of the chickens but they didn't run away. Ate some grass and some tasty cat poo - or was it fox?
Jumped up at a lady in nice cream trousers. Joe went very red. Don't know why.
Chased the neighbours cat and got my head stuck under a fence. Quite an eventful morning so need a nap........
Norman, killer of leaves
I went out in the garden and climbed on the table on the patio! I found out that I can stand up and look over the fence! Its amazin how much new stuff I learn every day! I also learned how to empty mums container garden, and how to eat honeysuckle. Wonder what I'll learn tomorrow..........

We try to get to the woods everyday - I love it there :)
Loads of space to run about, loads of doggy friends to play with, squirrels and horses.... and that lovely sense of freedom :)
We went on our usual jaunt down bridal paths and over fields. One of the fields was full of ewes with their spring lambs, so popped the leads on while we walked across that one. The lambs were gorgeous and bouncing around except for one which was fast asleep -ahh little darling. It woke up just as we passed by (probably due to my big gob when talking to OH) the surprised look on it's face was priceless, then it quickly bounded off to Mum. Saw plenty of rabbits as usual, saw a hare on Easter Sunday!! only the second one I've ever come across, or maybe it was the Easter Bunny, hard to tell. Farmers have planted a load of rape, it looks spectacular but the smell is awful, held my nose for that one. Finally ended up down by the brook having a nosey in these quaint cottage's gardens that back onto it while the dogs drank. (yes, I know what you're thinking, and yes I am a nosey cow.) :D Well, they should have higher walls! but then again would graze my shins shimmying up them LOL
I didn't get out much yesterday, Mummy (Jess to you lot) was very busy with work unfortunately, and although she looked terribly guilty and kept saying that 'sorry' word to me (whatever that means) I quite enjoyed sleeping all day next to her with my head on the big squashy pillow and I didn't mind one bit! I'm growing, I need my sleep you know! Still, we went to that nice place they call 'vets' in the evening and I saw the two HUGEST staffies you've ever seen in your life. I tried to show them who's boss by growling and desperately trying to get across the room to jump on them but Daddy wouldn't let me, spoil sport. Still, as always, I got lots of cuddles from the nurses, as always.
When I got home, Mummy did take me for a quick trot round the block, and I was EVER so well-behaved. I must have been she kept telling me I was a 'good girl' all the way. I think this might be because I didn't pull once, and my lead was loose the whole way round for the first time ever. When we got back indoors, Mummy took me straight out into the back garden for a game of football, yippee! I just got my big new football this week, and I love it, much better than those piddly little tennis balls and rubber balls I normally get to play with. Footballs are the best things ever, you can get your whole body over them and wrestle like Big Daddy and I love that.
Following that, I immediately went into 'mad half hour' mode which makes mummy and daddy laugh when I zoom from the back garden to the front door at 100mph and back again. I was shattered after all this and slept well last night. I don't know if I will have a walk today, maybe a quicky round the block because I have puppy school tonight and that REALLY wears me out, zooming round with all my little friends. I always flake out the minute I get through the door on Thursday nights!
We so wish we had woods here in Australia,i'm sure mummy would love to take us for a walk there,we get to go for long walks along the river, but we dont understand how come we have to have a bath after we go swimming in the muddy water, and especially after we have a roll in the heavenly duck and rabbit poop,i think we smell very good after rolling, mmmmm!
Could you please explain to us what it's like to walk in the woods, what it looks like, what it smells like and is there a lake or river to swim in??
One can only dream ;)
woof,woof for now
Emma and Bonnie
sorry messed up again left a comma out, i ment with my son, Toby and I (Heidi)
Heidi
please forgive my mum, glad you all have great walks love from Toby xxx
Hi Emma and Bonnie. I can't believe you don't know what woods are. I live right beside a little one, have done all my life (I'm nearly 2 now, you know ;) )
Do you have trees beside you? Well woods are lots and lots of trees all together in one area. Too many, in fact, for me to lift my leg at each one

though I do try :D . Under the trees we have lots of things 'mum' calls weeds or wildflowers (depending on what kind of plants we come across! There are lots of holes in the ground where the rabbits live - who'd want to live underground? I have to have a look to see :) We have these big birds - pheasants- trying to nest in the bushy bits. Of course I have to see if there are any eggs yet, don't I?
We also have a small stream (called a burn where I live - Scotland) and it is deep enough to swim in sometime. Not all woods have streams though. Pity, 'cos it's fun :D
Chance
I thought it was cute that you called your dog "your son" ;) :D
