Is it just me or does there seem to be a lot of questions at the mo about sibes!! Look on the visitors board and theres 4 on the first page!! Maybe a result of the film 'snow dogs' making them very popular too quickly?? Just seems a bit strange...after all they're not a breed you see every day are they!

Think it is the film Archer, one wonder how many are being poorly bred and then sold to unsuitable homes. Asked a similar question a few weeks back and it was thought it was the film.

Films and TV have a lot to answer for, do you remember the endless requests for brown Labs and the number of questions about breeding brown Labs from people who were not aware that you can't breed Brown to Brown. Not that I did till I read it on this board but then I am not thinking of breeding one :)

yes there are far too many not amused!! :(  especially wehn people are buying them very uninformed and very quickly and then dumping just as quickly in welfare!!

well i can safely reassure you all im not one of those who seen the film and said I WANT ONE OF THEM!!  i have been in awe of the breed for years and were suposed to get one for my 21st b/d but we decided against it as our circumstances were not right at that time for the particular breed, i have went out a bought  a few books did loads or research on the net(which is a godsend!! lol) and im glad we waited till now as i feel i definately wasnt ready for such a breed back then, anyway 9 years on (its my 30th this year) and we found a great breeder and we now are waiting to bring our new girl home she is 4 weeks old now nearly 5 and i cant wait to bring her home !! . so you see some of do not always jump in feet first but i agree what you are saying those who do dont know what they are getting into and most of them end up in welfare poor babies.:-(

:( The thing is everyone who has researched Sibes knows they are not easy, personally i don't think its a breed I could own just generally but since I have heard alot more about them its a breed that i would never consider owning, no offence to sibe people!  but I do prefere my dogs who I can let off the lead and trust to come back!

Yep! They are a breed I looked into may moons ago and having done so decided they were not for me either, I love them but could not do them justice nor give them the sort of life they deserve and crave.

i definately understand where you are all coming from they are not the breed for everyone, and im in by no means claiming to be an expert either as this will be my 1st sibe although i have been a dog owner for nearly 10 years now and still have lots to learn about them. :-) and boy am i looking forward to it!! lol
