The bitch can stand while being scanned, when I saw a bitch scan i would work out shapes and shadows but only when the vet pointed them out!! I am sure your vet will show you the outline of the pups on the scan if you can't work it out for yourself!

I am not sure if you are ment to feed them before hand, Why don't you phone your vets and ask?

Hi, i don't feed my girl when i take her for a scan, also you can normally make out the puppies on the screen, maybe because i have had 6 children and had so many scans lol... also my girl never wants to stand so my vet scans her lay down...And please do as much reading as possible you will need all the advice you can get..

Hi,

I don't know about scanning, as we don't do it....

However, I agree with the other posters....buy 'The book of the Bitch' and read as much as you can.  I worm my pups at 3/5 and 8 weeks....some people start worming at 2 weeks.
You really do need to read up on all of this.

I don't know how prepared you are for your bitch whelping, but make sure she has a nice quiet place, that's easily accessable for her and you, somewhere where there are no other dogs.
Get her used to that place, so that she feels totally comfortable there.
Closer to the date, make sure she spends more time in her 'whelping room'
Give her lots of newspaper, so that she can shred it.  Bitches do this...it's a natural instinct to make a nest.
Apart from that, get your whelping kit ready.
Make sure you have:
Old soft towels, which can be theown away (for drying pups)
Lots of newspaper (as whelping is messy)
Pen, Paper and scales, to write down birth weights
Phone number of vet
Plastic bags for used paper
Sharp nail scissors
Antiseptic

There are lots of other things...most of which are listed in the book of the bitch.

Best of luck,

Lisa

chap who does our scanning asked if my girl would stand. I said 'no problem!' Only she decided she wanted her belly rubbing and lay down whilst she was scanned. He saw 6 puppies and we went away quite happy.

She subsequently gave birth to 12  LOL!!

I don't know about whelping but you said your dogs arent parvo vaccinated they just had 2 vaccinations.... Leo has just had his 12 week vac's and on 10 and 12 weeks he had one with a load of initials (cant remember them) but that covered parvo... i would of thought it very sensible to have them vaccinated against it?
