When is the usual age for puppies to have their vaccinations ??  I just called my vets and they said 8 weeks and 12 weeks meaning the pup wouldnt be able to go out properly until he is 13 weeks which to me seems a bit old, I always thought it was 8 and 10 weeks  

Different vaccines have different protocols, and it also varies as to how prevalent disease is in your area as to whiat timings the vet will use. When I've had pups my vet has always jabbed at 10 and 12 weeks. Pup can still go out and about though, just being carried, not on the ground.

Oh yes he would still go out about with us being carried for socialisation :) im a bit worried about taking him to puppy playgroup because when I took my mums dog being a rescue she was slightly older and had had all her jabs but there were some pups there who had not and this would worry me because a dog like that could carry diseases in and give them to the other puppies.  Am I just being a bit over protective ?? :D :D

At our vets we have jabs at 10 weeks and 12 weeks.  (Well first one has to be given at least 2 weeks before the 2nd one and the 2nd one can't be given untill 12 weeks)  Anyway last time we had puppies done we asked our vet how long and he said straight away!  Well to be perfectly honest with what us and other dogs bring in after walks the pups going to get a minor bit of it so they are natually half innoculated before they have their jabs.

Saying this it doesn't mean you shouldn't have the jabs given to the puppy because they need to be FULLY protected against EVERYTHING!
