Hi

I am a soon to be new puppy owner (picking him up on Friday this week), and am very confused about the messages I am getting, can someone tell me if you can allow a pup that has only had one vacination to use an area in the garden to toilet train, the problem I have just encountered is that one of my neighbours has been allowing his dog to come into my garden and foul.  What can I do about house training if I cannot let the pup out into his own back garden for fear of contracting something dreaded.  Is there something I can use to clean the garden area which will allow him access?

My parents had a dog who was fully vacinated but who sadly passed away last year is it ok for us to allow the pup to visit and perhaps use their garden aswell?

Also is it ok to take our new pup out and about as long as he is in our arms and not allowed on the floor at all, even if he has only had one vacination?

If anyone has any suggestions I would really appreciate some advice on this subject as we are totally new to this.

Many thanks for any help offered.

Contact with vaccinated dogs will not be a problem; remember foxes may visit your garden and you will be bringing home germs via your shoes!  Dogs, like humans, can suffer if kept TOO clean, hence the rise in autoimmune conditions.  So the answer is of course you can use the garden however if your neighbours dog can get into your garden I would be more worried that my pup could escape from the garden than what disease it may catch!

You can also visit other people who have vaccinated dogs (what do you think dog owners who have another puppy do) :D

Please do take your puppy about in your arms as much as possible and expose him to everythign you can think of in order to end up with a confident and competent adult.
