Hi J
have you been to any shows so that you can see which sort of dogs you prefer?
Although KC registered, dogs can differ in looks so you may be best having a good look around and researching some of the affixes you like before you actually buy a pup.
Bearing in mind also that you may find different "types" in different areas of the country too so it may be best to visit more than just one show.
Have you had a look on Staffords.co.uk- they have show results and pictures on the board and may give you a starting point as to which type of breeding you prefer.
Good luck :)

Jo
the show is held at Asfordby Amateur Sports Club in Hoby Road,Asfordby in Melton Mowbray. The details, time etc will be included in your schedule .
The stafford site I mentioned earlier will list all SBT shows for the coming year - both Open and Champ shows.
I have only the one Staffy and I am a relative new comer to showing having only been involved for the past year :)

Yes its an Open show- usually costs a pound or so for spectators I think :)
There is usually a couple of stalls too selling leads/collars, staffy books etc and you will find the majority of people just adore talking about their dogs so you should be able to get lots of info and advice :)

Obviously not...as i still don't get it.
Does she not mean pure-bred rather than pedigree....?
In my mind a *pedigree* is one that is KC reg....

most people consider the term pedigree means pure bred ....after all even though the dog is not kd reg it still has a pedigree. If a breeder does not reister one of its pet puppies due to say being an incorrect colour does this mean its not pedigree?I think its just a matter of different phrases...I've always refered to pure bred dogs as pedigree I guess others use different terms

what it is i brought my bitch with a five generation pedigree papers but she wasnt kc thats what i called pedigree it might not be but i thought it was..???
jo

a pedigree is a dog with at least a 3 generation pedigree, therefore a rossbreed could be classed as a pedigree if you knew who its parent, gradparents and great grandparents were!!
Unfortantly people think of pedigrees as purebreeds, tho do not have to be KC registerd! Hence companions pedigree classes, need not be registerd with the KC!

Hi Jo, I deleted my post because I felt you might think it was another criticism of your situation. So for the benefit of other posters and to preserve the integrity of the thread, I wrote that, only the breeder can register a litter and both parents must be KC registered, otherwise the litter is unregisterable with the Kennel Club.

Well, by getting out to shows, looking at dogs and learning, you will get an idea of what you like, and hopefully make some friends who will be happy to talk you through a lot of the rules and jargon.
Sounds to me like you are going to be giving yourself the very best chance of finding the right dog for what you want this time.
Best fo luck!
