Am collecting Lhasa Apso puppy at the weekend. She will be with her brother for a few days as I'm collecting him for a friend who can't take him 'til next Wednesday. My question is:I know they are going to cry - my husband says No puppies in the bedroom! They will be confined to the kitchen and conservatory, until more or less housetrained. What do I do about this?It will break my heart to hear little whimpers in the night.
Also, I have a young cat. Any ideas on getting her to accept the new arrival?

Ideas anyone?

Sharon

As there will be the two of them at first, they MAY not cry that much but cuddle each other for comfort. Note I only said "may" :D When they are on their own it is likely to be very different. They are most likely not to just cry but to howl at an unbeleivable rate for such wee things!! All you can do is minimise it by getting them used to their new surroundings feed them where they are to sleep. A clock and a hot water bottle wrapped in a towel have helped some pups - not mine though. Mine only settled when they were in our room in a crate where they sleep very contentledly and without any noise - usually - lol

If you are determined that they will not sleep in the bedroom with you then you just have to be very firm and ignore the howling and crying until they eventually give in - this might only take a night or two - with some it can take ages - I lasted a week before I gave in.

Good luck

Thanks Pam for your advice. Your website is great, by the way! Better not show it to my husband though - he has a hankering after a cocker!

Hi Sharon

Thanks for your comments - very kind.

Do let us know how you get on with your fluff balls. I'm sure your fluff ball would get on very well with a cocker - in a little while of course - lol.
