It might be a nervous reaction to the car as opposed to motion sickness. You could try sitting in the car with her but not going anywhere. Then get out again and leave it at that for the day. If she has no reaction to this then it is the vibration or movement that is making her sick and that is harder to deal with.
Don't feed her before a journey and try short journey's with a good thing at the end of it - a walk or good play. If she really is intolerant of the car then the vet should be able to recommend something to help her without making her drowsey.
You could always try a piece of rag with a few drops of peppermint oil on it - it works for my kids and helped with morning sickness so it might work ;)
