I have my first Champ coming up in April, i have been going to ringcraft since she was 6 months she is now 11 months. She has recently come into season but will be out in time for the show. The problem i am having is that she wont be able to go to training before the show, which means practising at home. The problem im having is getting her to run around in a circle, she is too bouncey and too fast! Any advice?? Also at ringcraft we only run the dogs up and down.

When she gets to bouncy try taking her in your right hand and run round in the other direction, sometimes the surprise of something different will make her start to think instead of play. It is more normal to be asked to do a triangle rather than a circle and there is no reason why if you wish you can't go with your dog in the right hand as long as the dog is nearer to the judge than you are. The only time you have to do it with the dog in the left is when your are running round with the whole class.

But not when they're moving the whole class, obviously ;) :D

Try not actually running with her but walking at a fast pace. I have one that if I run she thinks its a game and plays around but if I slow it a bit, enough that she has to stride out but I'm not running she goes beautifully.
