Hi
I was wondeing if I could 'pick your brains' for advice please. My lab pup is 9 weeks old & has the runs! I am feeding him on Wafcol (dry food) that the breeder gave me. Could it be the food or do pups generally have the runs?

It could be for a number of reasons that your pup has the runs. Are you following a diet sheet (I hope you got one). Are you over feeding or following the amounts. The Wafcol food should be ok. Do you moisten it. How many feeds a day are you giving the pup.
Put you pup on plain boiled rice and plain mashed potato with a little chicken and then gradually add the Wafcol. If you don't have a diet sheet email me and I will let you have one that I supply with my golden retriever pups.

It is not unusual for a puppy to have this problem when changing homes and I think it may be the water, if the pup is not being sick I would carry on with the food and only start to worry if it is still a problem after 10 days..

I read somewhere that its best to use bottled water for the first few days with your new pup, and introduce tap water slowly. I believe its because the water is different in different areas and can cause tummy upset. Maybe this info is wrong, I dont know but i did read it somewhere.

I always tell people to bring back several bottles of water from the house where they bought the pup!
