hi, should a whelping bitch be given supplements such as calcium, even though she is on a high protein complete food?

in ye olden days we used to supplement our bitches with sa37 from around 6 weeks of pregnancy, but we no longer do this as we found no significant benefits or variation in the litters which were supplemented and those which werent. a good, high protein food made for whelping bitches and/or pups should be sufficient, there should be no need to add anything to a complete diet and there is little to gain from it. :-)
