AFGHAN HOUND

WHIPPET

Balanced combination of muscular power and strength with elegance and grace of outline. Built for speed and work. All forms of exaggeration should be avoided.

An ideal companion. Highly adaptable in domestic and sporting surroundings.

How on earth can you judge " faithfull far seeing eyes" ? :D

LOL @ Christine. I've always liked that one too. The UK Standard was written in 1923 so maybe a touch of the Rudolph Valentinos from the authors? :D

More or less agree with all the saluki stuff, although I think people tend to forget that they can be silly, bouncy dogs and not just these mystical, aloof, race-horse type things.

One thing I think is silly is that I gather (I don't show myself so please correct me if I'm wrong) that in the show ring, a saluki is paraded with his head raised high, whereas the natural gait has the head and neck at an almost straight line with the spine, which looks so impressive.

Also curious about the curl in the tail - to what degree does this become a fault?  When my Dill is happy, it curls right over.  Are we doomed in the show world as a result???
