Sorry guys just letting off some steam.
I have just got back from a late walk with Buffy (my 4 month old lab) and on the way home we past a couple of teenage boys with a very big staff. Buffy is normally not bothered by other dogs but as we got closer to this one she got upset and started to whine a bit and then laid on the floor with her tail inbetween her legs and her ears were very flat to her head. I haven't seen her act like this before but i took it as a bit of a warning that the staff wasn't a very nice dog.
The boy who was holding the lead seemed sensiable enough and he walked into the road before he got to close, his dog at this point was snarling and really pulling to get to Buffy, (she was trying very hard to get away and i think if she had managed to slip the lead i would have lost her).
Anyway the other boy was really egging the dog on saying " go on boy get it, kill it".
My guess is the dog didnt have a clue as to what he was saying but was getting worked up by the tone of his voice which was a bit menacing.
I acted as normally as i could and just carried on walking after they passed and told Buffy that she was a goog girl ect as i don't want to have any dog fear problems.
I am really peed off tho because i moved the walk to this late in the hope that all the silly kids with dogs would have gone home by now. Looks like i might just have to faze out the evning walk altogther :(
Sorry rant over, funnily tho it does make you feel better to write it down.
Take care
Debbie
