Hi.
Can anyone tell me if my dog is still elegible for novice classes.
He got a 1st in an open class, he was only a puppy at the time, but it was the only Stafford class in the show. He got best puppy, and best of breed. So that put a stop to Maiden classes.
He has also got a 1st in Minor puppy (not sure if this counts)
Then a couple of weeks ago, at the same show, he got 1st in Junior and 1st in Novice (would that be classed as 2 wins)
I have put him in a Novice class since then, not realising that he might not be allowed.
I don't want to make that mistake again, so please someone with more knowledge let me know.
Thanks.

Michelle.

From the KC site

NOVICE for dogs which have not won a Challenge Certificate or three or more First Prizes at Open and Championship Shows (Minor Puppy, Special Minor Puppy, Puppy and Special Puppy classes excepted, whether restricted or not).

So your dog is out of novice if the last win was more than 7 days before the closing date for the show
