friends had a litter of 8 boxers one of them has eyes that are very light blue very clear they are 4 weeks old the puppy acts no different than the rest i.e. getting around, has anyone heard of this happening before, the puppy in question had dark eyes at first, it has only happened in the past couple of days. can anyone give any information why this is.

I'm not sure how "Wall Eyes" develops. Keep an eye on the board, I have an eye testing session on Tuesday evening so I'll ask the question then and come back to you.

Light blue eyes may be indicative of deafness (this will apply to any coat colour not just whites). I would suggest that if the eyes haven't changed to brown by about 8 weeks then a deafness test may be in order to ensure that the pup goes to the right understanding home in the event of it being deaf. If hearing is OK then no probs.

Had a word about your puppy’s eyes tonight. If it is the cornea which is blue then it is almost certainly “Wall Eye” developing. This is caused by a lack of pigmentation and has no effect on the dogs ability to see. The age is about right for it to develop. As far as deafness is concerned, this may or may not develop but has nothing to do with Wall Eye.
