I have a beautiful Staffie that I recued through a friend of a friend of a friend! Apparently he is a pedigree dog with papers although I havn't got any for him. Is there any way I can find out if this is true? Is there a database or something? He is still entire, so if he is I can put him to stud thats all.
Any info anybody has got would be great! Thanks. Tina

Unless you know his registered name there is no way you could get a copy of his pedigree. You would also need his registration document which would (if he is indeed registered) have been passed to his first purchaser. If they are missing and you don't know who his breeder was, then there's nothing you can do, except to enjoy him as a pet.
There are very many Champion Staffords at stud, so one with no show record and no papers is not needed for breeding I'm afraid.

there are also some fantastic staffords which have never been near a show ring and are not recognised by the KC as they would be considered too large for the breed standard. :-)

If you from Canada their is something you can do. You will need to have your dog nuetered or spayed and get your vet to sign a form saying that he or she things it's a Staffie. You can go to the Canada Kennel Club and they have the forms that you need. It's called a pin number. You can show it in Agility,Obedience. But you can't show it in the ring. I hope that hels you out. If their any questions let me know.

In the UK you can do that anyway with or without registration but you can't show at Open or Championship shows or breed and have the litter registered, mind you without knowing the background you would not wish to breed anyway, would you.
