Does anyone know of any insurance company that will offer insurance for  conditions relating to pregnancy/whelping?

Thanks.

You'll be very lucky to find one.
Most companies won't cover anything related to mating / pregnancy / whelping.
Hope someone else can be more helpful for you. :)

Guest, Tanni, Snoopy1...

Pedigree do it.

They have a breeders policy it is expensive though, you have to have bred a litter before without any problems and I think the policy has to run for a year also before a claim.  That is vaguely what I remember. If you call them and then ask to be put through to the breeders insurance section then they can tell you the ins and outs of it.

One of my freinds has it but I remember her telling me all the conditions that had to be met first and thinking I would stick the money in the bank first.

There is a big company who do cover for whelping costs, not sure if I can name it. You have to ring & ask for the breeders insurance there are some conditions:- they will not cover you for your first litter if you have never bred a litter before. And I think you cannot have a litter within a cirtain timesale of joining.

Pet Plan have a policy called the"show breeders policy" covers for all breeding and whelping complications, excess is slightly higher than a normal pet plan policy.  I think you have to have been insured with them for at least 26 weeks before you are totally covered for all whelping.  Their helpline is very helpful.. I have this policy with my dogs, and touch wood have never had a problem with them, paid out directly to vet, when one of my girls need a C section.

Peilady ,

I think I have my pedigree and Petplan muddled up ;-) It is Petplan I meant.

I remember thinking it wasn't cheap though. I guess a difficult thing to insure as most things whelp related are expensive.
