Hi Guest, the letters CC stand for Challenge Certificate. A dog or bitch needs to win 3 of these under 3 different judges, to become a Champion. Shows with CCs on offer have one cc for dogs and one for bitches. Your minor puppy would be unlikely to win a CC on the day of his first show, it's not impossible but it is unlikely. However you might win some Junior Warrant points if you win a first, and you might qualify the puppy for Crufts 2005 if you get 1st 2nd or 3rd.

Good Luck at the show, Dawn R.

Hi Guest
have you shown at any level before?? Why not join...its free...and ask what exactly it is you want to know.
Theres more to showing that meets the eye but to explain everything would take a lot of typing and Im not that fast!LOL

hi thankyou for your time. i am entering the swra at failand in mpd. only problem is that he does not "stand" still when being touched he would rather shoe the judge his belly for a tickle. he is fantastic at home with his training but at ringcraft he just does a belly flop and gets very excited. will he be alright to show? i have been told he has excellent movement but i am concerned about his "standing". thankyou again.

You will not be alone, lots of puppies wriggle. I am always a worried about the minor pup that stands still.

don't worry about wrigglers at that age mine used to sit down all the time - just enjoy yourself as thats what its all about, even the best behaved dogs show us up sometimes and when they are puppies it is expected that they may behave a little erratically at first.

When I judge Beardies I expect to be mugged in the puppy classes If they don't wriggle & say hello I get very suspicious I would always allow puppies to be puppies when judgiing

for maxisleepi.
thanks for the advice i will try to enjoy myself on the day. any advice you can give about pre show preperation would be great. do i bath him the night before? on what surfaces do i apply paw wax.
what is your kennel name? where do you come from? will you be at the swra?
thankyou very much again.

I've entered my mums Pomeranian at the National Champ. Show, she's nearly 10 months old and she doesn't know what move nicely and stand still means, I can't wait to see how she plays my mum up at her first show. We must be mad :d

hello in answer to your questions - no don't bath your rot before the show best to do it a minimum of a week before or the coat goes all fluffy i find bathing the week before gives the coat time to settle before a show. I don't know which show it is you are going to but i doubt i'll be going my first champ show this year will be skc then border union(i'm not sure where you are from but i'm in the north of england) don't apply paw wax unless you find your dog can't cope on wooden flooring my dog is quite flat footed so he manages ok. a tip is to put roll on deoderant on the feet that dries them so they stick to the floor well also if your show is inside and it is only quite a small area take it easy at first your pup might want to go fast around the ring but its best to go slowly so he doesn't slip on his first time out(watch out for him pacing though!!!) my affix is majicker and i have two rotties and just aquired a boxer puppy. if you want any other advice you can e-mail me i think my e-mail is on my info.
