My little female papillion keeps urinating in our hallway, we have no other dogs that visit us but a few weeks ago we got our hall carpet professionally cleaned. Is there a chance she doesnt like the soap that was used to clean it and is trying to get rid of the scent. She was at the vets recently and he checked her urine but it was fine. Why is she doing this? she isn't incontinent coz she asks out a lot.
Could be a number of reasons why she's doing this. She could be coming into season, many bitches scent mark at this time as they like to advertise the fact to all of their impending condition. Or it could be that she is now used to having her scent on the hall carpet and is renewing whenever it starts to fade off.
Clean with enzyme cleaners such as natures miracle or biological washing liquid/powder. Once dry give a rub over with surgical spirit, this will hopefully remove the scent and make the area less attractive to mark in the future. Also, don't give her the opportunity to do it by restricting access to the hall- use baby gate or a crate when you can't watch her. When you are around, watch her like a hawk and correct her if you catch her in the act by saying "NO" firmly, then get her outside pronto to praise when she pees outside, it could be that she doesn't know that this is an unacceptable place to pee, so if you can catch to let her know it's not what you want this may well cure her. My dogs had been peeing in the same spot for months, it was always at night and we were unable to catch them to correct them. I got so fed up with it that I stayed up all night "on guard" I was lucky to catch one of doing it and was able to correct him. Since then we have gone 3 dry weeks, so fingers crossed, he got the message. :P

If she started to wee immediately after the carpet was cleaned it is possible she felt the need to cover up the scent of the cleaning fluid. Or, she had a one-time accident which has now turned into a habit. Sometimes bitches will wee in the house if they are due to come into season, but the cure is the same regardless. I would follow the advice to clean the carpet thoroughly to get rid of all the urine scent and then block the hallway off so she cannot get at it until you are convinced the habit is broken.
If she was incontinent she would not be able to control herself enough to pick her spot - she would wee in more places than just the hall carpet.

Thanks for your replies. She is in season but has been for 4 weeks now, we were hoping she`d be finished by now. But this is a new thing she has started doing, all the other times she was in seaon she never used to wet the carpet plus we have to get out of bed about 4 times a night to let her out as she refuses to take no for an answer.
