hi,

i watched it to! its very disturbing that people are still allowed to get away with this sort of thing in this day and age, its even sadder that unsuspecting public buy these poor pups and try to save them, there must be something that can be done to shut these puppy farms down?!

its just a heartbreaking situation, i brought a puppy from a puppy farmer, i didnt realise he was farming the pups, well we lost our girl! its just a creul creul trade, but unfortunatly i dont think it will stop unless things dramatically change!

i agree dog-madness, it looks very doubtful that the trade will stop, in fact it is increasing. there is very little the law can do, a lot of the premises are rural and isolated and the breeders ship the puppies elsewhere to be sold with no documentation so there is little comeback for them and no authorities can inspect them. the only time puppy farms get raided and/or shut down is when they are silly enough to sell puppies direct to the general public and then, the public get to see the conditions the pups are kept in and can complain, especially if the puppy gets sick or dies. Most true puppy farmers sell to dealers or deliver the puppies direct to the buyer under a false pretence, that way no-one can trace the sickly puppies back to them. if you think about it, it just goes to show how money-hungry and greedy these ones who get caught are, if they dont care about memebers of the public coming to their premises and knowing where they are, seeing the poor conditions they keep their dogs in, they must not care about anything except the money!

The breeder (puppy farmer) exposed again by Inside Out Extra has only been allowed to continue in this way because the Council lax attitude have allowed him to. Although they have inspected each year and  the vet even reported that there were grave concerns, yet the Council ignored the Vets report and have re issued the license to the premises year after year.  That was until this year when the conditions were exposed by Inside Out and the Council said they would not renew the Licence after the end of March. The breeder is appealing against this decision.

It will be intereresting to see if the Council renews the licence even though the premises are very substandard or they do not renew the  licence which will enable the breeder to breed from his dogs still (until he has five litters in a 12 month period) then it will be interesting to see if the Council will prosecute him for operating a breeding establishment without a Licence.

My concern is what is going to happen to all the dogs and puppies in the mean time?  I do not expect he will  be cleaning his act up or the welfare standards and conditions for the dogs and puppies at the premise will improve. Neither will the breeders behaviour towards the dogs and puppies. The dogs and puppies behaved in a fearful and unfriendly way towards him which indicates to me the attitude he has towards them, which could be seen by anyone watching the programe.

A very unsatisfactory situation all round which leaves puppies and dogs in a situation which is going to cause more suffering and no one is prepared to take responsibility.

When I saw those little puppies running away from him I thought of ours last year. They would come running out and mug you for cuddles. One couple said they would chose the puppy that ran to them, well they all did. That breeders puppies ran away and barked at him and the one he picked up looked terrified. Poor little things.
