hi i have a 10month old rottie and last week i took him to the vet as he had small hair loss from scratching just on the side of his neck under the ear and a sore on his foot that he was licking none stop. she said that it could be fox mange as we do have them around she gave me celhalexin capsules and stronghold. i have to take him back thursday. the vet told me if there is no change in him she will have to do skin scraps. i thought fox mange made the hair fall out all over as the mite is under the skin but he only has hair loss where he has scrachted.
:( i just want my boy back to him self :(

The mites cause irritation the scratching cause the hair loss. This type of mange/scabies can be caught off almost any mammal, but the fox is the likely culprit.

I sympathise with you... I have a 10 week old rottie pup and she has been diagnosed with sarcoptic mange/scabies, our vet has done skin scrapes, and has been given aludex solution to bath wit, it maybe worth askin your vet about this, but please be careful as this is highly potent medication and do not let the dog lick him/her self when they have been bathed in this solution...

Mention benzyl benzoate to your Vet.  It was used for scabies for years before the "modern" treatments!!
